I was kind of aware of the stricter rules to get into universities now compared to how it was in the past. However I was surprised at how high the average g.p.a’s were the upcoming freshmen class. 4.0 to 4.5 is an extremely high score. I think its actually good in a way because it guarantees that the people that make it into the universities actually want to be there. Rather than a bunch of people just taking up space.

This article is a real eye opener. This has made me realize that the competion this year for a seat a a college of my choice just got higher and harder. As A senior it def. puts alittle more pressure. But it does help in a way to make sure that the right people get into those universites with high standarads. This article just makes me have more drive. This was a very good article.

i think that the university getting harder is good and not so good…its good because not just anyone can get into colege its not good because some people try really hard and there not making it…so i think that they should evaluate a little more on who gets in or not.

I think this article is totally true. Colleges are getting harder and harder to get into and i dont like that becuase i want to get into a good college but without having a super high SAT score or really high GPA. I hope that this starts after i get into college haha

  5. 5    TD September 17, 2008 at 12:40 pm

The article was about how colleges are getting tougher and tougher by the day. The amount of kids applying is getting higher and the admissions are taking less people. The standards for colleges are also getting higher. What used to get you into a certain college wont cut it anymore.

  6. 6    BSF September 17, 2008 at 12:54 pm

This is about college and how now its so much harder for students to get in. People dont have a chance to play around anymore and mess up, they expect you to be perfect and not mess up, but thats not human. People make mistakes and learn from it, I think that the people admitting you to college shouldnt hold you to that degree. They should just know that people mess up and learn and move on from it.

I think it is unfortunate that colleges are cutting down because that leaves students that probably would have been qualified previously stuck to attend a community college. Students dont have the time to fool around they have to work hard their senior year if they wasnt to get accepted to a university.

This article was informing us about how the universityes have riased the standards for students to get in.Most of the universities have cut there freshman classes by thousands.Students trying to get in this year are going to have to step there game up and have really exceptional GPA’S.

  9. 9    XP September 19, 2008 at 12:33 pm

I think that it will make it very hard for many students to get accpeted into colleges. Students now have to work harder if they messed up years before in order to get the right GPA to be accepted into the universities.

  10. 10    S.B September 19, 2008 at 12:33 pm

This articel basically informed us about how hard it will be to get into the colleges of our choices. The schools have cut down on the freshman count by thousands since last year. I think it is very unfortunate for the students because now they are forced to attend a community college.

  11. 11    KT September 19, 2008 at 12:35 pm

Florida’s public universities raised admission standards higher than ever last year, and area high school guidance counselors learned Friday that the bar for entry will go even higher. Universitys have gotten really hard to get into becuase they don’t want kids to “mess around” so there setting the standards high. You have to be smart and focus in order to make it into a university and succeed.

Colleges are making it harder for students to get in and taking less. I think that is wrong because everyone should have the chance to get a higher education. Its leaving students that could of attended universities to community colleges and for the ones who were going the community route stuck with nothing. The budgets are effecting everything

Being one of those student’s who is having a problem getting into college, I find that colleges raising their standards have both pros and cons. I have personally seen how hard it is to get into collge. Their high standards, and their other requirements, push students to better themselves. Thus, inviting us to a bighter future. =]

  14. 14    W.G2 September 19, 2008 at 12:45 pm

The article was about how it is getting harder and harder for incoming freshmans to get accpeted in the college of their choice. This is because colleges are now raising the standards to for admissions. That means that incoming seniors must start taking school more seriously.

  15. 15    WG1 September 19, 2008 at 12:49 pm

I think that it sucks that colleges are making it difficult for students to get in. Its already hard enough trying tomake a descision of which college fits you and what not but now if you make a choice, chances are that it’ll be extremely difficult to get into that school. This means that people will have dedicate a lot more time to doing better in high school to get into the school they want.

  16. 16    MJ September 22, 2008 at 10:06 am

I think colleges need to cut down on all of the standards in order to get in. Many kids that are willing and dedicated get turned down due to the lack of standards. I thknk this is causing kids to give up and not go to college.

  17. 17    RV September 22, 2008 at 11:49 am

This article is about colleges getting more strict with their requirements. I dont think that they should raise the test scores & GPAs in order to get into the school because alot of people really desire to get onto college and it is already hard enough as it is. I think that by raising the requirements they6 would be killing the dreams of alot of people and the amount of people going into college will decrease greatly and then society will have less amounts of educated people.

  18. 18    a.r September 22, 2008 at 12:02 pm

it is true that addmaision to a university is getting tougher and they are accepting less and less students each year. it is unfortunate for those wanting to go to the schools were its tougher to get in and wont get accepted.!

  19. 19    W.M. September 22, 2008 at 12:03 pm

Since colleges have been setting the bar high for high school students to get in, we have to work harder than ever just to get in. Some students just want to party and have fun in college so University need students who will work hard and study. This is logical but some students have made some mistales in classes that will probably kill them when choosing a University.

  20. 20    eazye September 22, 2008 at 12:04 pm

i think that in a way, cutting the amount of students that will be accepted to college is a good thing. Doing this will increase competition among students, and just like in business, competition leads to better results. This will also cut down on professionals who lack proper training

  21. 21    av September 22, 2008 at 12:12 pm

the article is about how colleges are raising their standards for kids to get in, to ensure they work harder in highschool and increase competition among students.
i think this is a good idead because if you want it bad enough you will work for it. the harder you work the better the achievement feels.

  22. 22    LT September 22, 2008 at 12:29 pm

Florida Universities raised standards for addmission and say that the standards will go get higher from here. the bar has raised now since alot of kids have been working to the bone to get a better education. And with more children attending public schools now the precentage only get higher.

  23. 23    J.R. September 23, 2008 at 12:36 pm

I think that good and bad at the same time. Its good because now people who is just going to college just to make their parents happy and not reallly for themsleve. but at the same time its bad because forthe people that really want to go but dont have eerything that they really need. or cant makethe cut for it

  24. 24    AF September 24, 2008 at 12:53 pm

This article almost scared he half to death because it was a real eye opener, it talks about how it is getting a lot tougher to get into college. It shows how competitive it is getting to go to a good school. Students have to start working harder than ever if they want to be accepted to the school that they desire to go to.

  25. 25    NH October 1, 2008 at 12:14 pm

Applying for colleges and unviersities is getting tougher every year. Your requirements for classes and gpa and SAT scores is going up. I know this from experience i am appyling to get into college right now and i am really freaking out because out of 38,000 applicants applying for college i dont know if i am gonna be one out of the 3,000 that get accepted.

  26. 26    F.F. October 1, 2008 at 8:38 pm

I was aware that to be accepted into an University starting for the graduating class of 2009 would get even tougher. First, Writing scores are going to be counted into the application process, but that’s not all year after year from now they’ll keep adding new “requirements.” This article is informative but also scary =/ . . I want to be accepted!!

  27. 27    NB October 2, 2008 at 10:59 pm

College admissions have gotten wayyyy harder then before. the raise GPA as well as SAT and ACT. each universitey is highered there standards and therefore get more competive for student to get in. Also some of the other students that acually qualify for these universities cammom go through bc of “budget cuts”

  28. 28    W.Weezy October 3, 2008 at 11:34 am

This artical actually helps out a lot, and gives students a lot of ideas about college and whats going on. I think its important for students to know how colleges are working and how there not just excepting anybody, and for thiose who just coasted there way through high school should know that they should start doing something before college is out of there range for sure.

  29. 29    A.S. October 3, 2008 at 12:14 pm

I’m fine with university’s getting tougher. It really separates who really wants to get in college and who doesn’t. Anyone can score a good SAT but a well rounded student shows strong motivation to actually get into a great university.
